Our Story

Our story begins back over a century ago with my grandfather, a young Ukrainian sailor named Ivan Beshoff.  Ivan, an engineer on board the famous Battleship Potemkin when its crew mutinied in 1903, made his escape across land and sea arriving in Dublin in 1913.  It was here on the North strand in Dublin that he opened his very first Fresh Fish and Chip shop.

My Dad, Anthony together with my mum,  Kathleen took over the helm and the business continued to go from strength to strength supplying Dublin with not only the by now infamous Beshoffs’ fish & chips but also great quality fresh fish straight from the sea.

It was here, growing up waiting for the boats to land to bag the best catch,  watching the fresh fish been hauled in the nets onto Howth Pier and early morning visit to Dublin’s colourful fish market that I found my passion.

In 1996 we opened our premises here in Howth and are today proud to be one of Dublin’s best known wholesale fishmongers.  Excited and determined to share our love of fish with seafood-lovers out there, in 2007 we opened our Seafood Restaurant and Market Fishmongers just a stone through from the sea right here on the west pier in Howth.
